Revival of Puppet art; presentation training and promotion program

Lucknow Lalit Kala Shiksha Sansthan organized a free presentation orientation 21 days Puppet workshop in Lucknow University by the cooperation of Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi which was started in the presence of Prof. Rakesh Chandra inaugurated by senior puppeteer Mr. Fareed Ahmad at Vidhayak Niwas, Darul Shafa, Common Hall, Hazratganj, Lucknow on March, 2008.

There were 26 participants & information was given to the participants about puppet and shows them slides of puppet through computer connecting to the science and education। He showed and explained all type of puppet which is found in India and its origin state by computer presentation.

Under the workshop of "Revival of Puppet Art, Presentation Orientation and Promotion Programme" Glove Puppet, Rod Puppet, Shadow Puppet and traditional Glove Puppet of Uttar Pradesh Gulabo-Sitabo etc। were made them (participants) and a rod puppet or 16 feet was also made, prepared puppets were displayed in the puppet festival which was celebrated from 7th May to 9th May 2008.

First day of "Puppet Festival" a Putul Yatra of puppet was taken out from Lucknow University to Parivartan Chowk। This Putul Yatra was flagged off by Prof. Ajayab Singh Barar, Vice Chancellor of Lucknow University along with the participants, in the Putal Yatra Prof. Rakesh Chandra Sankerte Director and H.O.D. of women studies Prof. Anil Shukla (LUTA President), Prof. Malvika Khanna, Dr. Manoj Dixit (I.P.P.R. President) and lectures were present in the Putul Yatra. Rod puppet of 16 feet was centre of attraction in the Putul Yatra. This Putul Yatra was taken out purpose of attracting people towards folk art. This Putul Yatra was taken out purpose of attracting people towards folk art.

Second day of the festival the programme was organized lightening the lamp by Dr। Nupur Sen, (Education Deptt. L.U.) was presented on the stage before the separators through shadow Rod and Gloves puppet taking the problem of women right and women exploitation of there type of women problems were presented through of bird (Shadow puppet).

Second drama was presented beautifully on the theme of "revolution of 1857 and history of Lucknow" through rod puppet in which Nawab Wajid Ali Shah, Begum Hazrat Mahal, traditional puppet of Utter Pradesh "Gulabo-Sitabo", Maulvi Ahmad Ullah, Mammu Khan and other supporting etc। were in the drama.

Third o\day of puppet festival programme was organized in Lucknow University & Lightening the lamp by Prof। Akhilesh Chubey dean education department.

Under the theme of "Shikshak Dost" presented of small-small science puppet dramist by Glove puppet। In which some dramist are used according to scheme in the form of T.L.M. of puppet. It was so effective It will make education easy and entertaining and will be proved helpful in revolutionary changes in Education World.

Light operated in the all Puppet dramas by M। Hafeez Music and special effect by Pradeep Singh, Assistance direction by Nitin Mittal and his companion artist, Imagination and direction by Arshad Umar.

On this occasion Prof। Chaubey said that this puppet workshop is not only in Education Department But also this is the first workshop in the history of Lucknow University and hope the definitely it will bring revolution in Education World.
